Value Added Catalogs

In addition to the primary SDSS photometry and spectroscopy, there are a few extra catalogs created by our collaborators that are distributed through the SAS. These Value-Added Catalogs (VACs) are listed below, and include catalogs that were released in earlier data releases.

Abstract

This value added catalog provides detailed elemental abundance measurements for ~17,000 M dwarfs in SDSS-V/Milky Way Mapper DR19. These M dwarf abundances were inferred from a data-driven model trained on FGK-M dwarf binary systems observed with the APOGEE spectrograph in DR19, with training data consisting of M dwarf spectra and FGK abundance “labels” from ASPCAP, which is reliable for measuring abundances of solar-like stars but not M dwarfs. The M dwarf abundances in this catalog are therefore an improvement on those provided by ASPCAP. They include Fe, Mg, Al, Si, C, N, O, Ca, Ti, Cr, and Ni, with uncertainties ranging from 0.018−0.029 dex. More details on the construction and content of this catalog can be found in Behmard et al. (2025).
